What We Do

Types of Projects

RedR India carries out projects mainly in India, the South Asian region and sporadically in other geographies, working with District Administrations, local NGOs, Government Departments, INGOs, CSR agencies and Inter-Agency Groups.

Studies & Reviews

Analytical enquiry into the humanitarian and DRR sector — critical analysis of at-risk contexts using qualitative and quantitative research, producing findings on disaster response and reduction practices.

Assessments & Evaluations

Spanning the DRM Cycle — rapid needs assessments launched within 48–72 hours of disasters, multi-sector assessments, real-time evaluations, response & recovery evaluations, and DRR programme evaluations.

Capacity Building

Learning needs assessments, institutional capacity mapping, sector-specific capacity building (Shelter, WaSH, DRR, Logistics), front-line worker training, and real-time capacity building during emergencies.

Technical & Advisory Services

Organisational disaster preparedness, contingency planning, DRR mainstreaming, programme implementation tools, and technical support on WASH and Shelter interventions in post-disaster settings.

Capacity Building Completed

Community Led Urban Disaster Risk Reduction

RedR India's Urban Disaster Risk Reduction (UDRR) Project was implemented across five vulnerable communities in South Chennai from August 2025 to March 2026 to strengthen disaster preparedness and community resilience. Through risk assessments, capacity-building programs, first aid and fire safety training, interactive sessions for children, community resource mapping, and stakeholder collaboration, the initiative empowered residents with the knowledge and skills needed to respond effectively to emergencies. The project laid a strong foundation for building safer, more prepared, and resilient urban communities.
